The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals.
