SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - New Paris, IN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in New Paris are programs that are legally allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary benefits aside from medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab program can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of certification it has been granted.
