SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - St. Croix, IN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in St. Croix are programs which are legally allowed to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
