SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Velpen, IN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Velpen are programs that are legally allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment program can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of certification it has been given.
