SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Williamsburg, IN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Williamsburg are programs that are officially permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can get their basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
