If someone is receiving outpatient detoxification they travel to the center assisting them with their detox every day or at minimum 5 days a week in most cases. Outpatient detoxification services are either delivered in the evening or daytime, which makes it ideal for a person who needs to keep a regular work or school routine. Some programs may provide ways to participate in detox treatment in either normal outpatient or outpatient day treatment, to improve detox services and relapse prevention help.
A standard time clients participate in outpatient detox is approximately 7 days. Some programs use medication assisted detox methods while others provide medication free detox services. Alternatively, medical staff at the center help individuals manage their physical, emotional and psychological symptoms of withdrawal and cravings until they are detoxified and stabilized.
