DWI Clients - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - California, KY.

DWI clients in treatment need specific requirements met to satisfy the terms of their court sentencing. Treatment programs that help satisfy these demands and terms, which are typically much more lenient than normal sentencing such as heavy fines and incarceration, are available in California to deliver DWI classes, counseling, and additional assessment for serious substance abuse problems.

Drug and Alcohol Education is a primary treatment tool used at rehabs treating DWI offenders. There are various levels of alcohol education which can vary by state. Level I education classes typically include 12 hours of education related to the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what a person with a first offense or someone under the age of 21 will usually be required to complete. Level II DWI classes would include both education and group therapy in a program which is approved by the courts. How long an individual will need to be in therapy depends on certain factors, which can be, for example, the number of DWI's the person has had, and the seriousness of the offense. Most often individuals will be required to take the Level II classes and therapy unless their blood-alcohol content was very low when they were arrested and there weren't any other serious charges when the individual was arrested.
