SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Coldstream, KY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Coldstream are programs which are officially permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
