SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Dexter, KY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Dexter are programs which are officially allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
