The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people.
