SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - Flatwoods, KY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Flatwoods are programs that are officially permitted to give out the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
