SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Fredonia, KY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Fredonia are programs which are legally allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment program can receive initial approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
