SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Lookout, KY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Lookout are programs which are legally permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of accreditation that was given.
