SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - New Hope, KY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in New Hope are programs that are legally allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been given.
