The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
