SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Agawam, MA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Agawam are programs that are legally permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been given.
