SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Brimfield, MA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Brimfield are programs who are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation it has been given.
