Medicare is a federal program that helps pay for medical healthcare services for individuals living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. For people that do have Medicare and require drug or alcohol recovery services in Brookline, this program will cover various rehabilitation programs and recovery services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different forms of medical care.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient addiction rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but individuals will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only covers 190 days of inpatient care total, this applies to the person's lifetime.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications associated with treating withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and medications required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
