Clients referred from the court for drug rehabilitation are most commonly referred because they are being granted a chance to try their hand at rehabilitation rather than face jail time, other charges, fines, etc. While this is most common among first time offenders, it can occur at any time such as while the person is being held in jail. There are various types of facilities that criminal justice clients can be referred to, and this depends on what is available in Rowe and the type of substance the person requires treatment for.
There are treatment programs that work directly with the courts to treat this explicit group of clientele, and are usually state funded or are offered at little or no cost to the client. Additionally, there are also private addiction recovery centers that may be authorized by the court if there is a specific type of rehab that the client needs or wants that a state-funded program can't provide. The client's attorney can request such options to the judge for approval. There are even drug and alcohol recovery programs that operate out of the correctional facilities themselves, where clients are sometimes in a better position for early release or other benefits when enrolling in addiction rehabilitation services while serving their sentence for a drug related offense or a DUI/DWI.
