SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - South Attleboro, MA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in South Attleboro are programs who are officially permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
