Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. An opioid treatment facility can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
