SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Stevenson, MD.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Stevenson are programs who are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been granted.
