SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - Tilghman, MD.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Tilghman are programs who are officially allowed to give out the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
