There are both inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, but there are a few types of outpatient drug treatment in Denmark to choose from. Regular outpatient treatment is not invasive and clients can usually participate in therapy and counseling a few times per week. Comprehensive outpatient rehabs provide therapy and counseling much like regular outpatient, but on a more accelerated pace that also accommodates work and family life.
One outpatient drug treatment option referred to as Day Treatment or Partial Hospitalization is the most intensive type of outpatient rehab available. Individuals can return home or to a sober living facility every day, but will spend the majority of their time involved in outpatient rehab activities. Day treatment and partial hospitalization outpatient drug and alcohol treatment is perfect for clients who have recently completed an inpatient rehab, but still need to maintain a strong support system while they become more confident about living sober. These rehabs also usually offer a wider spectrum of services that typical outpatient may not offer, including medication management, dual diagnosis treatment, and alternative therapies.
It is common for people in outpatient alcohol or drug treatment or after rehab in outpatient drug and alcohol treatment to have a relapse. In these situations inpatient treatment would ideally be the next logical step.
