Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for health benefits for individuals living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 and older. Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for substance abuse related medications. Including medications associated with treating drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
