SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Ann Arbor, MI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Ann Arbor are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification that was granted.
