SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Berkley, MI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Berkley are programs that are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
