Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Byron Center, MI.

One of the outpatient rehab options for clients in Byron Center struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are authorized to administer certain meds to opioid dependent clients, many that are opioids themselves and are addiction. In low amounts the individual does not experience high feelings but also does not experience intense cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this reason, but there are other options currently to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to dispense the med, that is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is approximately $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that is only be given in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is approximately $300.00 a month for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med that blocks the effects of opiates. Someone consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced about $450 per month. Naltrexone is another drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
