The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals.
