Young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 years old are offered drug rehabilitation centers developed specifically to meet their needs. The most comprehensive treatment offered to young adults is at an inpatient rehab center in Grant which delivers a broader spectrum of services than outpatient facilities. Substance abuse disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders can be worked on simultaneously in drug treatment programs for young adults which have psychologists or therapists on site to manage co-occurring disorders.
Young adults attending rehab programs which specifically treat their demographic benefit from having the peer support available and the empathy of treatment staff who are usually skilled and knowledgeable at working with young adults.
The duration of rehabilitation can vary in young adult treatment programs, and this is often dependent on the client's progression throughout the program. The more progressed the problem is, the longer it will be suggested that the young adult continues with the program. If outpatient treatment is the only option available, this too should be thorough enough to meet the client's needs. As an example, there are outpatient programs for young adults which merely require the client to attend therapy and counseling a couple of times per week, and there are programs which require daily participation.
