SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Marcellus, MI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Marcellus are programs that are officially allowed to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
