SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Merrill, MI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Merrill are programs which are legally permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
