SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Merritt, MI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Merritt are programs who are officially allowed to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of certification it has been granted.
