The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals.
