The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients.
