Because substance abuse and other mental health disorders are found at higher than average rates among Vets, it is crucial that Veterans get the essential assistance they need due to such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders among Veterans.
Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Veterans in California are available from the VA, with included services such as measures to handle associated problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Vets. Treatment for substance abuse and related disorders among Military Vets includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy which can increase a person's desire to change.
