SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Camden, MO.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Camden are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
