SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Odessa, MO.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Odessa are programs who are legally allowed to give out the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was given.
