Medicare is a federal program that helps pay for health care for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 and older. For individuals that do have Medicare and need substance abuse rehabilitation in Syracuse, Medicare may cover certain recovery programs and treatment services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain kinds of care.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient substance rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but individuals will have to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for a total of 190 days of inpatient care, as in during the individual's lifetime.

Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an alternative for people who want additional health insurance aside from Medicare Parts A, B, and D. Individuals who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and those used for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
