Because alcohol and drug abuse and other mental health disorders are experienced at above average rates among Vets, it is important that Veterans get the assistance they need because of such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders with Veterans.
Drug and alcohol abuse facilities for Vets in Whiteman Air Force Base are available from the VA, with services that include programs to address associated disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Veterans. Treatment for addiction and associated problems among Military Veterans includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy that can increase an individual's desire to change. Involvement in other support such as AA and other support groups is recommended. Medications are also used in some instances to help Military Veterans lessen their tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.
