Drug prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive initial approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was granted.
