For persons with HIV/AIDS who also struggle with addiction, their prior continuing medical condition is something that will need to be recognized and adequately addressed simultaneously while they receive rehabilitation for their alcohol or drug addiction. Getting and keeping this client in recovery is not only essential for their safety, but for the safety of the general public due to the fact they may transmit their disease to others in the case their drug or alcohol problem continue.
In many cases, clients who battle with both HIV/AIDS and addiction at the same time may have let their bodies deteriorate due to the lack of care most addicted individuals show themselves even when they don't have HIV or AIDS. Some stop taking their medication, don't go to the Doctor, etc. and therefore require critical medical help once they do reach substance abuse rehabilitation. Aside from rehab for their drug or alcohol addiction, in a rehab center that provides treatment for persons with HIV or AIDS, clients will receive a medical exam to see if they are experiencing any other problems associated with their disease. This would include checking for Hepatitis A, B, and C, tuberculosis, diabetes, dental issues, other STDs and mental health disorders.
Drug or alcohol abuse treatment for people with HIV or AIDS in Black Eagle would include detoxification services which are responsibly handled with both the patient and the staff in mind.
