The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
