SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Great Falls, MT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Great Falls are programs that are officially permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. A requirement that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
