Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for health care for individuals living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 and older. For people that do have Medicare and need drug or alcohol treatment in Monarch, Medicare will pay for various treatment programs and recovery services. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain types of care.
Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient substance treatment, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but policy holders will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only covers a total of 190 days of inpatient care, as in during the person's lifetime.
Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B covers up to 80% of the fees for outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation. This includes outpatient services, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression or anxiety and drugs dispensed by clinics. It also covers professional intervention services.
Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an alternative for people who want supplemental coverage aside from Medicare Parts A, B, and D. People who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.
Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
