The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Polaris are programs who are officially allowed to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements.
