There are recovery programs offered in or near Teigen that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, drugs which are used in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone and buprenorphine clients take these medications regularly so they don't experience cravings, withdrawal, etc. but hopefully at a dosage which isn't at the same time making them feel euphoria. Euphoria occurs at at higher dosages, more so with methadone than buprenorphine. At centers that treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are generally limited beyond managing the medication and the main treatment goal is to manage the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some programs do offer a small amount of counseling and group therapy as auxiliary services, and it is recommended and encouraged.
