Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Creston, NC.

One of the out-patient treatment alternatives for people in Creston struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are certified to dispense certain meds to opioid dependent clients, many that are opioid-based also and are addiction. In low amounts however, the user doesn't feel high but also does not experience acute cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this reason, but there are other options currently to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to administer the med, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be administered in highly structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about just under $300 monthly for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med which blocks the effects of opiates. Someone consuming this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs about $450 per month. Naltrexone is another drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
