Medicaid is an insurance program for low-income families that because of the Affordable Care Act must cover standard substance abuse rehabilitation services. Medicaid is currently the single largest payer for mental health services in the country, and is starting to play a considerable role in the reimbursements of drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. Medicaid subscribers will want to consider that while this is the case, not all rehabilitation centers accept Medicaid. At facilities which do take Medicaid, individuals won't have co-payments in most states. For states which do charge co-pays, there are limits to the out-of-pocket expenses for recipients. Services covered by Medicaid consist of screenings, intervention, medication maintenance, counseling, inpatient, detox, outpatient, long-term residential and behavioral health services.
If an individual in East Bend is interested in getting Medicaid to pay for treatment, they must fulfill the following criteria: 1) Be over 65 years of age or under 19 years old 2) be pregnant or a parent and 3) fall within a specified income bracket. Each state also has their own rules, restrictions and qualification requirements and these change every year. So, someone who didn't qualify for Medicaid in their state last year may be approved this year.
