Substance abuse programs for Veterans are central for the mental health and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the military. Because alcohol and drug abuse and other mental health problems are experienced at higher than average rates among Veterans, it is important that they get the assistance they need because of such high suicide rates also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Drug and alcohol abuse facilities for Veterans in Ord are available through the VA, with included services such as efforts to address associated problems such as relationship problems, irritability, disturbed sleep, pain, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Vets. Rehab for substance abuse and related problems among Veterans includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies that can increase an individual's motivation to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications are also used in some circumstances to help Vets decrease their tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.
Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Military Vets are offered during the evening and weekend hours, with both residential and outpatient programs available. Facilities which are Women-Only or Men-Only and those for homeless Veterans are available in certain areas.
